This notice describes privacy and browser storage on TockSG, a local news site in public beta. For privacy questions, email TockHK@tockhk.com and identify TockSG in your message.
Visiting the site
When your browser requests a page, the web server receives technical information such as your IP address, the requested address, the time of the request and browser information. Server logs can record this information for operating the site, investigating errors and protecting its security. Searches you enter become part of the requested page address; do not put confidential information into the search box.
Contacting us
If you email us, the message includes your email address and anything you choose to provide. That information is used to handle the question, correction, tip or other request. Website hosting and email providers process information needed to deliver those services. Please do not send passwords, payment credentials or sensitive personal records by ordinary email.
Cookies and browser storage
The site uses browser local storage to remember preferences, including the light or dark theme and radio selection or playback settings. Local storage is different from a cookie: it stays in your browser and can be read by the site when you return. Clearing this site’s stored data in your browser resets those preferences.
TockSG runs on WordPress. Authorized staff sign-in can use cookies for authentication and session functions. You can manage cookies and local storage through your browser settings, although blocking storage may prevent preferences or sign-in functions from working.
Tock ’n’ Roll radio
Selecting a station does not start playback. When you press Play, the player requests audio from the station or its streaming provider. That provider receives connection information, including your IP address and browser or device information, and its own privacy practices apply. The player uses an HLS playback library served from this site; the audio itself comes from external services.
Playback can continue as you navigate the site or in a separate player window you choose to open. Use the player’s stop or pause control, or close the playing window, when you want listening to end. Closing a site tab does not stop a separate player window.
Links and other external content
Following an external link takes you to another provider’s site. External media, where included, can also cause your browser to contact that provider. Review the provider’s notice before using its services. A station’s website and its streaming provider may be different organizations.
Public-beta features
Public account registration and community submission forms are not open in this beta. There is no open newsletter signup. You can read the site without creating an account and send questions or corrections by email.
Your questions and choices
You can clear stored site preferences, stop radio playback and choose whether to follow external links. For questions about information you sent us, or to request access, correction or deletion where applicable, email TockHK@tockhk.com. We may need enough information to identify the request and confirm that it concerns you. Legal, security and recordkeeping requirements may affect what can be removed.
This notice may change as the beta develops. The date above identifies the version published here.
Operator and hosting
TockSG is published by TockHK LLC, a New Mexico limited liability company, and hosted in New York City, United States. Data may be processed in the United States by hosting and email service providers.
Opinion submissions and legal notices
If you email an opinion submission, we keep your name, email address, piece, source links and disclosure of interests. Your name appears with the piece if published; your email address is not published. We keep a private record of takedown and copyright requests and outcomes, including the sender’s contact details. You may request removal of a published opinion piece through the contact address above.
What we do not do
We do not sell personal data. We do not run advertising on the site.
